In Toast's own words: Citrussy. Hoppy. Planet-Saving. The latter comment comes from the brewery's commitment to addressing food waste, by replacing around a third of the barley used to brew their India Pale Ale with surplus fresh bread. With one third of all food wasted and food production being the biggest climate change contributor, reducing that waste is their contribution to fighting climate change. Hence planet-saving. Further, all their profits go to charities trying to fix the food system. Plenty of goodness there, but even better if the beer's good too...which it is! Though a punchier version of the Toast Pale Ale, with modern American hops to give higher bitterness and more intense citrus notes, it's designed to be a Session IPA. Its alcohol is therefore more moderate than many full-on IPAs, so easy to enjoy as a session beer.
