Maverick may have been founded in 2004, but its vineyards have seen many a vintage and in some cases pre-date the winery by over a century! Its winery in the Barossa Valley is home to historic, low yielding grape vines. Yet, whilst Mavericks grape vines may have a lot of history, its approach to its winemaking is very progressive. Through the vision and eccentricity of winemaker and owner, Ron Brown, Maverick has embraced a biodynamic system of farming in his vineyards. Mavericks old vines and biodynamic farming allows the creation of intense, pure, low-yielding fruit. Grape Varieties: 100% Riesling Farming Practices: Maverick wines are made from biodynamically-farmed estate fruits. Their vineyards are certified by NASAA (National Association of Sustainsble Agriculture of Australia) as biodynamic or biodynamic in conversion. Tasting Notes: Light, lively with a faintest touch of spriz, and with an elegant minerality. The lime flowers persist on the palate and length, and the finish is clean but not austere.
