Head Wines
Head Wines was created in 2006 by Alex Head with a focus on Rhne varietals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys in South Australia. All of the vineyards are farmed sustainably using organic principles where possible; yields are controlled and grapes are hand-picked. Alex has always been a keen drinker and follower of the wines of the Rhone Valley, thus the Head Style is one of optimum ripeness with elegance, freshness, balance and purity of fruit attained by slow, gentle winemaking and careful maturation. Alex has been rewarded with high scores for his wines from all the major critics and is widely viewed as one of the most talented and exciting young winemakers in Barossa. The grapes are sourced from extremely low-yielding hand pruned and picked Eden Valley vineyards at 35 to 160 years old at 380-500m elevation are hand-picked.
