Domaine Nigri Pas De Deux Juranon Half Bottle

Nigri
The Juranon region in Southwest France is known for its rich, aromatic dry whites and outstanding dessert wines. The main varieties used here are the local Gros and Petit Manseng. The 16 hectare Domaine Nigri was created in 1685 and has been owned and run by the Lacoste family for four generations. Today the estate is undergoing conversion to organic certification. 40% Petit Manseng; 60% Gros Manseng grown on clay-silica soils on the heat retaining pudding stone base rock that characterises the best vineyards. This sweet wine is late harvested in October without botrytis, but when the sugars, acidity and flavours have concentrated in the grapes. The Gros Manseng is matured in vat, while the Petit Manseng ages on lees in barrel. Aromas of dried peach and mango, hints of lime marmalade. Sweet and delicious with a lemony tang on the finish which gives freshness and balance; lighter than a Sauternes. This would be superb with fruit-based desserts where a touch of elegance is required as well as sweetness.
